Monti's govt wins Italian senate confidence vote

ROME: Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti's government on Thursday won a confidence vote in the senate, hours after the former EU commissioner laid out radical reforms to cut Rome's huge debt burden.
Monti mustered support from an overwhelming majority in Italy's upper chamber, with 281 out of 307 senators in attendance backing his plan to pull the country back from the brink.
