KARACHI, Oct 13: Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral M Asif Sandila on Thursday called on Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah. The Chief Minister warmly welcomed the newly sworn in 19th Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan and discussed with him matters of mutual interest. Syed Qaim Ali Shah appreciated the role of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy in providing relief to the victims of torrential rain in the lower Sindh.

The Chief Minister said that lives of innocent poor people were saved and relief activities were expedited due to active involvement of the personnel belonging to the two services.
The support, provided by Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Army to the affected people, was particularly outstanding in terms of medical support and timely availability of food besides other needed relief work, he added.
Admiral Sandila said that Navy being the important fighting force  will maintain high level of operational preparedness at all time and would focus to strive hard and achieve optimum professional proficiency.
About the role of Pakistan Navy during recent rains, he said the assistance would be continued till government needed the support of the navy for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people in the province.
