Pro, anti-Mirza men come close to armed clash

BADIN: Participants of a rally taken out in support of President Zardari / Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan and supporters of Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza stopped just short of having an armed clash.
Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza alleged that the rally was taken out against him in Golarchi on a cue from Pakistan People's Party leaders.
The situation grew seriously tense when the participants of the rally reached near Press Club where they found their way blocked with the help of vehicles parked by Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza's supporters.
Dozens of stick wielding supporters came out in view and the men from both groups pointed guns at each other. Fortunately, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
After the incident Dr. Mirza talking to media alleged that it was some leaders of PPP who ordered his opponents through a telephone call to take out a rally against him. The opponents want to disrupt peace in my constituency with such rallies, he argued.
He, however, warned that if any one tried to make use of hooliganism then he was also not a coward who would not retaliate.
