MQP urges government to stop drone attacks

PESHAWAR - The Muttahida Qabail Party (MQP) on Saturday condemned US drone attacks and urged the government to take serious steps for halting the attacks that had been killing innocent people. Addressing a press conference, MQP Chairman Habib Malik Orakzai said that innocent people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were being killed in the drone attacks, besides an immense financial loss was being incurred by the tribesmen.
Habib said that the people of FATA were peace-loving and had been securing the western border of Pakistan for 64 years without any compensation but the government was not trying to maintain peace in the area and no development work had been undertaken either. He demanded the government to stop drone strikes and maintain peace in FATA. He appealed to the government to provide basic facilities, including medicines and food to the tribal people living in the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camps.
